[New!]View the the February 2004 Plan.

February 20, 2004

Dear Dominion Hills Neighbors,

The Neighborhood Conservation Program, created by Arlington County in 1964, encourages communities to prepare improvement plans reflecting immediate needs and a future vision. Individual civic associations are responsible for creating a plan that identifies fellow neighbors’ interests and aims to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood we all share. Click here for more information about Arlington County’s Neighborhood Conservation Program.

Dominion Hills is one of the few Arlington communities that has not yet filed a plan with the County, making our area ineligible to compete for a share of County funds annually dedicated for neighborhood improvement. Once this Plan is adopted by the community and accepted by the County Board, we will be eligible to receive funding for valuable enhancements such as beautification, infrastructure, roads, lighting, signage, traffic, safety, parks and recreation. In the fall of 2001, we began work to create a Dominion Hills Neighborhood Conservation Plan. A neighborhood survey was conducted in the spring of 2002. More than 200 households responded (a phenomenal 34% response rate). Committees were then formed to analyze the information and develop the plan with neighborhood goals and recommendations.

The final draft of the Dominion Hills Neighborhood Conservation Plan is now available. In addition to reviewing it online, the draft is available for review at Ashlawn, McKinley, and Swanson schools as well as Westover and Central libraries. This draft reflects discussion and changes based on suggestions made last fall by the community and Arlington County staff. The Plan will be presented at a community-wide meeting on March 10, 2004 at 7:30pm at the Dominion Hills Area Recreation Association Community House (6000 Wilson Blvd) for discussion and adoption by the neighborhood. Voting on the NC Plan is open to all residents and property owners within the Dominion Hills area regardless of membership in the civic association. We encourage you to attend this meeting to vote on the Plan. It is assumed that people not voting or expressing opposition to the Plan are in favor of the Plan.

Please contact Eric Sildon if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting on March 10, 2004.

Thank you,

Dominion Hills Neighborhood Conservation Plan Committee
