Eric Sildon & Chanya Charles, joined by representatives from the DHCA board, presented Lloyd Mostrom with a token of our appreciation for his commitment to the Arlington community. A standing ovation for Lloyd followed a reading of the resolution that states:

NEIGHBORHOOD CONSERVATION PLAN ACCEPTED BY COUNTY

Our Dominion Hills Neighborhood Conservation Plan was accepted by the Arlington County Board in December. Dominion Hills is eligible for county funding for valuable enhancements such as beautification, infrastructure, roads, lighting, signage, traffic, safety, parks & recreation. A neighborhood committee is being formed to identify priority items to be funded. Neighbor Dave Jenkins has agreed to lead this committee. If you are interested in joining this neighborhood committee please contact Dave. Committee meetings and information will be posted here & included in future newsletters.

TRAFFIC CALMING PROJECT

Last year more than 30 Dominion Hills neighbors collaborated with Arlington County to design a traffic calming project for North 10th Road between McKinley & Patrick Henry Streets. They developed a plan that utilizes crosswalks & traffic nubs to reduce the excessive driving speeds on 10th Road, thereby enhancing the safety & overall quality of life in our neighborhood. More than 80% of the neighbors in the affected area signed a petition in support of the planned design that was presented to the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Committee last summer. All County approvals have now been obtained & construction should begin later this year.
